2019 Installation Dinner, Incoming Board

The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that is what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Our vision is to help women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

Soroptimist of Laramie currently has about 26 members and we are always seeking new members to help support our mission. Our board consists of a President, President Elect, Past President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and two members at large. All board terms are one year with an exception of the Treasurer and the two members at large, which are two-year terms. We have roughly 10 committees to choose from all of which fall under the four pillars of Soroptimist: Programs, Membership, Fundraising, and Mission Support.

The club meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at noon at Altitude Chophouse and Brewery.  The board has an additional monthly meeting on the 1st Thursday of every month at noon.  We also have an annual Christmas party and end of year installation dinner. We break for the summer months of June, July, and August, although typically we have a “summer retreat” in August in preparation for the upcoming year.

Our major fundraiser for the year is Laramie Laughs for a Cause, a comedy night full of fun and laughter. We began Laramie Laughs in 2007 and have raised over $200,000 since. Laramie Laughs for a Cause allows us to support our local community by contributing those funds back to organizations and individuals who fall into our mission of bettering the lives of women and girls.
